Anna Ouspenskaya Interview:  Sound Espressivo is the completely revised concept of a classical music contests

Anna Ouspenskaya is a Russian-born American concert pianist, chamber musician, TV Host, Script Writer, Teacher and Entrepreneur.

Anna owns Hunter Mill Music Studio in Washington DC and Virtual Concert Halls-
US based international broadcasting company and Stuart Little Productions-
Russia-based international arts management company.

Her company Virtual Concert Halls recently launched the Sound Espressivo Classical Music Contest -the first global classical music competition to livestream contestants’ performances from their own locations in a live broadcast.

We talked to Anna about  the Competition and the Future of classical music performances .

1.Your company -Virtual Concert Halls- recently launched Sound Espressivo Global
Competition. Can you tell me, please , a few sentences about the project and why it
is  unique? What makes it different from the other similar projects?


Anna: Sound Espressivo is a completely revised concept of a classical music contest. It is the first global classical music competition to livestream contestants’ performances from their own locations in a live broadcast. No Zoom! Sound Espressivo streams its judged rounds with Virtual Concert Halls using professional TV broadcasting. Producers and technical specialists meet each contestant virtually and set them up for best sound/video production. 

2. How did Covid -19 situation affect the music performances and competitions?


Anna : We are all aware that the world has changed due to the pandemic. What are the
possible ways for classical music performances and the theaters to survive?
Through innovation, embracing the new forms, broadcasting, connecting with
audience in new ways.

Our company’s motto: “Connection”. The new life opened new opportunities, it’s important to view troubles as obstacles, to see obstacles as challenges, to view challenges as opportunities for growth.


4. How can musicians apply for the Sound Espressivo Global Competition? Are
there any special requirements?

Anna:The special requirement is to be creative. Sound Espressivo is a competition which
requires of musicians to think deeper about who they are and what they want to express
through their art. Categories are artistic and equally applicable to any instrument and
voice.

5. Who are the jury members?

Anna : Some of the most renowned musicians from around the world.
 

6. What are the prizes?

Anna:Prizes are services offered by music and arts management companies from around the world: concert organizers, opera companies, music festivals, artist management agencies,designers, video producers, publishers, etc.
 
7. What is your message to the artists and performers in this period of pandemic crisis?

Anna : Engage your creativity, connect with each other, trust, take risks, love and live!
